Dr. Shaw was raised in Moosomin, a small but busy town in Southeast Saskatchewan. He grew up loving the outdoors, playing sports, and staying involved in the community through volunteer groups and clubs. After high school Dr. Shaw attended the University of Regina where he studied chemistry and then went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. He remained on the Dean's list throughout his studies and graduated with honours.

During his education Dr. Shaw completed an internship in Fort Saskatchewan and loved the community and the surrounding area. He also completed an internship in Lexington, Kentucky at a veteran's hospital as well as a third internship in Waterloo, ON. Dr. Shaw has also participated in a humanitarian trip to Moldova where he helped to provide eye care to those in need.

After graduation in 2018 Dr. Shaw moved back to the Fort Saskatchewan area that he had grown so fond of during his internship and has been enjoying his position at Fort Saskatchewan Eyecare. In his free time Dr. Shaw likes to play volleyball, baseball and basketball, play the piano, and spend time with his family and friends.
