MEET OUR TEAM
Kelly
Born and raised in the Thorhild area, Kelly is a Licensed Optician who has been involved in the optical industry for over 34 years. Kelly started her optical career in Fort Saskatchewan in 1991 with Dr. Geoff Marsh at Family Vision Care as an optician and office manager. Throughout her career she has excelled in her knowledge of ever changing trends in both the fashion world and progressive lens technology.
Patient needs are of the utmost importance to Kelly and she strives to ensure that every experience is both a memorable and positive one. Kelly's goal is to make each patient feel like a neighbour instead of a number.
Her experience and knowledge is extensive and she strives to develop relationships with her patients so their vision needs are served to the best level possible.
Going into partnership with Dr. Colin Hobson at Fort Saskatchewan Eyecare has been a very exciting adventure! She looks forward to continuing to share her passion of the eyewear industry with you and hopes you drop in soon to check out the office!
Kayla
Kayla has been in the optical industry since 2007, and became a licensed optician in 2012. She joined the Fort Saskatchewan Eyecare team in 2015. She fell in love with our ever changing industry and couldn't imagine doing anything else! She loves to make a personal connection with her patients so she can help them find what is best for their vision and personal needs, and loves helping your children find their new glasses. She was born and raised in Edmonton and has been a part of the Fort Saskatchewan community since she was a young girl as a lot of her relatives live in the city and surrounding area. Kayla’s daughter Leaven, will be attending Kindergarten at St.John XXIII September! She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, watching movies, reading a good book, and anything that gets her outside. Stop by the office to see Kayla and let her help you with you eyewear needs!
Cortney
Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Cortney comes from a background of makeup artistry which has translated over into her Optical career with her knowledge of color and facial structure. In 2015 she made the move to Alberta with her partner and made the change to the Optical industry where she has found her passion and calling. Cortney finished the Optical Sciences program at NAIT and became a Licensed Optician in June 2019. An eyeglass curator and enthusiast, Cortney is dedicated to helping her patients find the perfect frame – or two – while thoughtfully helping choose the best lenses suited to their needs.
Trish
Trish was born and raised in north Edmonton and was the youngest of a family of 8. She started her optical career at 20, receiving her license at 23. This led to a successful 16-year career as an optician in Edmonton. She decided to step away from her work, to focus on raising her beautiful daughter. Now that her daughter is an adult herself, Trish is returning to her career as an optician to do what she is passionate about, assisting the client in choosing the perfect glasses with knowledgeable, friendly, and professional attitude.
Sylvia
Sylvia grew up in the Northeast Edmonton area shortly after her parents immigrated from the Netherlands. There she married and brought up her children in the same church, home and school environment that she herself was raised. Once the kids were attending school full-time she decided to pursue her medical career.
She has been a part of the Fort Saskatchewan Eyecare team since the first day! All the knowledge and experience obtained over years has made her an invaluable part of FSEC.
Sylvia and her husband have a loving family of five children, and it has grown in the past fifteen years to include three beautiful grandchildren. She hopes to continue her career at Fort Saskatchewan Eye Care for many more years to come and is very happy to be working along such wonderful colleagues in the field of optometry. She resides in the city of Fort Saskatchewan with her family.
Suzanne
Suzanne was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Just after her 4th birthday, her family made a move west to Hinton where she grew up and completed her high school years. Suzanne continued onto University in Edmonton where she obtained her Education Degree.
Suzanne, along with her husband Malcolm and two beautiful daughters – Kayan and Abby moved to Fort Saskatchewan in 2008 where they fell in love with all the opportunities that small city living could bring to their growing family.
After her daughters graduated from high school and went on to University, she found more time on her hands and decided to return to the work force where she could bring much experience, energy and professionalism to Fort Saskatchewan Eyecare. With her love of people and her ease of communication, she joined the team and looks forward to seeing you and your family!
Tammy
Tammy was born and raised near Vilna, Alberta. After graduating, Tammy obtained her Bachelor of Education degree. While teaching in the St Paul area, Tammy began her optical career by working part-time in a St Paul optometry clinic. As Tammy had a passion for helping patients, she obtained her Optical Assistant certification and continued working in eye care until after the birth of her second child. After having the opportunity to stay home and raise her family; Tammy, her husband and their two children now live in Fort Saskatchewan. Tammy began working at Fort Saskatchewan Eyecare in the fall of 2020 and once again, she enjoys helping the patients with their eye care needs!
Vera
Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Vera is the youngest of her and her big sister, growing up she had the opportunity to live in 6 different provinces and attend 12 different schools due to her parent's work. She began school in Newfoundland and graduated in Victoria, BC.
She has always had tremendous compassion for people so it’s little wonder that she’s always been in the “people profession”. At Fort Sask Eyecare she loves every opportunity to meet and greet the best people who come through our doors.
Vera is the proud mama to 4 incredible children, 3 adorable chihuahuas and a fluffy bunny. When she isn’t meeting, greeting and pre-testing our amazing patients, she’s with her family and loving each moment of life.
Brandy
Brandy Malo joins the FSEC family this year. Brandy has over 15 years of experience in the service industry as a Master Hair Stylist but has decided she wanted to try a new adventure. Brandy has been married to her husband Chris for 21 years and they have 2 beautiful children. They reside in Fort Saskatchewan. On her off time, Brandy enjoys gardening, baking and volunteering with her kid's sports.
